Head of School Search

Head of School Search

Saint Paul’s Episcopal School’s current Head of School, M’Lissa Howen, has announced that she will conclude her tenure at the end of the 2025–26 school year. The Board of Trustees has therefore initiated a search for the next Head of School, who will begin service in July 2026.

The Search Committee will be co-chaired by Board Chair, the Rev. Samantha R. E. Smith, and Board President, Duke Nelson. This committee will guide the process of identifying and evaluating candidates and ultimately recommend a finalist to the Board of Trustees for approval.

To assist in this important work, the Search Committee has retained The Education Group, a consulting firm that specializes in independent school leadership transitions. Our consultants, Dr. Susan Lair and Allison Lorimer, bring extensive experience with Episcopal school searches, deep knowledge of Texas, and a broad network of national and international educational leaders.

The Search Committee is committed to conducting a process that reflects Saint Paul’s mission and values—emphasizing community collaboration, thoughtful discernment, and open communication.

We invite you to return to this page regularly for updates and resources as the search progresses.

The members of the search committee are: the Rev. Samantha Smith (Rector, Chair of the Board, parent), Duke Nelson (President of the Board, parent), Len Brown (Sr. Warden of the Vestry, former Board member), Alex Adesina (current Board member, parent, SPES alumna), Meredith Snowden (faculty representative), and Brad Wright (current parent).
